The new CRC MetriCKs 1/12th scale race car
A CRC Carpet Knife with metric hardware, the MetriCKs. (pronounced "metrix"). Finishing 1-2 at both the 2024 Snowbird and Canadian Nationals, the new car sets a new "metric" for performance, durability and affordability.
Our new car platform was a project that started over a year ago. Some of our goals for the new car are;
Fast and efficient in the corners
Super low center of gravity
Super simple in design and use
Easy to race and maintain
Excellent durability
In the CRC tradition, keep the car affordable.
Welcome to the new MetriCKs!
In the front, the MetriCKs features CRC's Ultra-tune suspension. Just change the lower C/C plate (caster/camber plate) and your caster and camber are perfectly set. A "4 -1" plate gives you 4 degrees caster and -1 camber. Switch to the 5 -.5 plate and you have 5 caster and negative .5 degrees of camber. Go smash a bunch of barriers, and your caster + camber settings are still the same. We will have a plethora of different combinations available. And this is from Team CRC, so the price for optional C/C plates will be affordable. Throw your expensive setup gauge in the garbage, you wont need it.
With a simple and quick change of the C/C plate (caster/camber), you can set caster and camber with precision and ease. No setup station, no guessing, no fiddling. Perfect camber and caster is machined into the pieces.
Speaking of smashing into barriers, a new, flexible 3d printed bumper will help you bounce off the barriers mentioned above. The open design of the bumper increases front downforce.
We have 6 different front springs available for the car. Ranging from .4mm to .65mm, these springs made with precision from the best material available. The springs will mount over the CRC straight 5mm king pin and should fit other cars as well (A12 and Prodigy).
The Ultra-tune front end uses the durable 1/8 x 5/16 wheel bearings. These bearings are much stronger than the 3/16 x 5/16 bearing found on many other cars.
The front mounted side-to-side roll springs separate the roll stiffness from the center/bump stiffness. For those traditionalists that like the side springs in the rear, there is a provision to mount the side roll springs in back. The MetriCKs features an easy to adjust rear center spring for preload, setting battery height and bump stiffness.
Super easy battery height and droop adjustment. From the top, with a simple hex head, the center preload is adjusted to alter the amount the car "sags in" when race ready. From the bottom of chassis, a simple twist of a wrench on the limit set screw adjusts the "extension" or down travel of the car. Super easy to see and adjust.
Another goal is low center of gravity. With the MetriCKs, the tungsten weights fit LEVEL with the chassis bottom, not stacked on the chassis or battery plate. We put the ballast at the very lowest position possible. Literally on the same plane as the bottom of the car. Because this car is so lightweight (needing lots of weight) and the ballast is so low, the center of gravity of this car is extremely low. Speaking of tungsten weight, we will have it available, but it is a common tungsten ballast available in many hobby stores, super affordable and easy to get. Keeping with the CRC tradition, high performance at a great price
Dual linear dampers are super easy to set, change and maintain. The reservoir of damping grease is protected by an easy-to-remove seal from above. Using a line a diff/damper greases (preferred over silicone fluids), the dampers are leak free and easy to maintain and keep consistent.
The dampers features a large volume reservoir to hold damper grease.
The car features super strong, precision machined motor plates with a very low center of gravity. Two locking hubs clamp onto a lightweight differential axle which makes is less costly to switch to a differential. Just add a diff hub and bearing to affordably switch to a differential, perfect for the popular GT12R class.
We The new MetriCKs finished 1-2-3-4 at the 2024 Canadian Nationals in 13.5 Super Stock. In the stock class, a solid 1-2 finish matches the same 1-2 finish as the 2024 Snowbird Nationals. The car is already a proven winner!
Durable, affordable, now with all metric hardware, the new MetriCKs is a proven winner. Pre-order your car today! Shipping before September 1, 2024 (we think it will be even sooner)
Dedication and specialization in pan cars
At CRC, we don't build touring cars and we do not make offroad cars, we don't make nitro cars, we don't make truggies and we don't make buggies.... WE SPECIALIZE IN PAN CARS. We make the cars, we make the carpet they race on, we make the borders they race around and we make the tires they race on. AND we have been doing it for over 30 years. We specialize in pan cars and lead the way in design and engineering, right here in the U.S.A..
Lighter, lower, leaner and meaner
With the low weight, and the placement of the ballast at the absolute lowest place in the car, the MetriCKs has the lowest center of gravity in the class. The ballast sits below the battery, level with the chassis bottom. The lightweight design allows the racer to move the weight around in the chassis.
Over 30 years of experience
The design is based from CRC's long heritage of championship winning road racing cars, multi-time IFMAR World Champions. Designed and built by the engineers and racing staff at CRC, the new MetriCKs is created by experienced racers; from the conception of the design, right through to production, packaging and support. Like all CRC products, the MetriCKs is used weekly by local racers at CRC's test track. This insures that the parts have been proven by top professionals, weekly club racers and general hobbyists, covering all facets of the product; performance, ease of use and durability. The CRC platform is a proven winner at the biggest racing competitions, winning on EVERY stage; the IFMAR World Championships, the Japanese Nationals, the European Nationals, the ROAR Nationals, the IIC in Vegas, the AOC in Japan, and the Snowbirds in Florida. The product is supported throughout North America with CRC's extensive domestic distribution through A-main, our vast dealer network and direct from the factory. Worldwide, CRC's international distribution and support centers in Europe and Asia insure that parts and support is easy and convenient to obtain.
